Getting car license in the U.S is different from Japanese way of getting it. Because the U.S is so big country, the way of geiitng driver's license is different from states.
At first, I write about usual way of getting driver's license in the U.S. People in the U.S can drive at 16 yaer's old. I think the reason why the age is so young is that this contry is so big that people need to drive. I feel that this becomes myth. To get car license they have to take a test. The way of taking a test is used touch panel. There is no time limit so you don't have to hurry up. There are 40 questions and if you get 75% collects, you will pass it. In addition, you get a temporary license, After that, you will take drive test. After you pass all of these test, you get driver's license. It seems to be easier than Japanese way. I don't think there is symbol, all of these are symple and direct.
There are some interesting way of getting driver's license. You can get driver's license just 14 year's old which is depending on states. People who are over 18 year's old don't have to take drive test, you take writing test, and you have to take driver's education which drive lesson.
In conclusion, there is myth about getting driver's lisence, the way of getting could say in order, there is communitas that is responsibility of driving and you might chenge the role. You must not drive a car before you get a lisence, but after that, you can do that,so this is transformation. But, there is no symbol about getting driver's lisence, you don't change your role socialy even if you get car lisence, to get it doesn't purify someone or something. As a result, I think that to get a driver's lisence is ritualization.

I think that everything you said is true. But I also think it i possible that some people can see the ID as a symbol of their ability and maybe the keys to a car are a symbol of the freedom that it can be.

Good contrast with the Japanese way. Don't you think that the actual license is a symbol of something, though? Please describe some myths connected with this as well.

I also think a lot of people in the US get their driver's license really young because they live in the country. For instance, I live in a rural area, so it was really important for kids to get their driver's license as soon as possible. The places that have it as young as 14 are usually farming communities, where the kid may have to get a license to drive a tractor so they can help their parents on the farm.

I can see many differences between Japan and America about getting driver's license, and learned a lot from your blog post. I think some of things could be a symbol that has a meaning of their responsibility, myth too. I really enjoyed reading your post.
